Sheetz, the Pennsylvania-based convenience chain and gas station, is eyeing a new state to expand to.

First covered by the Detroit Free Press, the chain plans to bring its stores and private label snacks to Michigan with a Detroit store slated to open in 2025, adding that more locations will be planned for later that year.

"We are thrilled to continue our growth into Michigan and bring the ultimate one-stop-shop to people across the state," said Travis Sheetz, the company's president and CEO. "Sheetz is dedicated to being a great employer and neighbor and we cannot wait to put those values into action as we expand into our first new state in two decades."

In August of this year, Sheetz announced a multi-year expansion that will add 30 new stores to its home state of Pennsylvania. Prior to the planned expansion into Michigan, Sheetz announced plans to expand further into western Ohio with 20 new stores over the next five years. Its first location in that region is expected to open in Dayton in 2024.

Sheetz currently operates more than 670 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
