Sheetz, the Altoona, Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain, is hitting a company milestone, as it reaches its 800-store mark with the opening of its newest location in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The store’s grand opening is planned for Aug. 28, and Sheetz is offering two free hot dogs with any purchase at all its locations. The promotion runs from Aug. 28 through Sept. 2 and can be found through the "OFFERZ" tab on the Sheetz app.

“Our family is incredibly humbled to be able to reach this milestone,” said Travis Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz. “It speaks to the dedication of our amazing employees and the loyalty of our customers across every community we serve. As we look toward 1,000 stores, we are excited to offer more customers our all-in-one convenience experience, create more quality jobs, and continue being a positive force in the neighborhoods we serve.”

The retailer’s expansion in recent years has been rapid. It was less than two years ago that Sheetz opened its 700th location in Columbus, Ohio. Other recent expansion highlights include:

  • In 2023, Sheetz expanded into Dayton, Ohio, and now has nearly 10 stores in the market, with plans to open 10 more in the next few years.
  • In August 2024, Sheetz officially entered the state of Michigan by opening its Detroit-area store, followed by the opening of a second Detroit-area store in July 2025. Sheetz plans to open 50 to 60 locations in southeastern Michigan over the next five to six years.
  • In 2024, Sheetz opened its first two locations in the greater Cincinnati area in Franklin, Ohio, and Springboro, Ohio.
  • In 2024, Sheetz also opened its first two stores in Toledo. In May 2025, Sheetz opened two additional stores in this market and is planning to open more later in 2025.
  • Also in 2024, Sheetz broke ground on the construction of its new state-of-the-art $169 million food preparation and distribution center in Findlay, Ohio, to support the company’s growth across the area.

Sheetz currently operates store locations across Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland, with all locations open 24/7, 365 days a year.
