Select Products to open $4M facility in North Carolina

Salazar

With paper products booming as the pandemic wears on, Select Products is looking to expand its operations. The Huntington, N.Y.-based maker of tissue products is investing $4 million in a new facility that will add 73 jobs in North Carolina’s Vance County, per Anthony Copeland, the state’s commerce secretary.

“North Carolina continues to attract modern manufacturers even in these turbulent times brought on by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Secretary Copeland.  “Our workers are resilient and productive, and smart companies recognize North Carolina’s enduring strength as a business location.”

With two existing facilities — one near its headquarters and another in Vandling, Pa., Select Products supplies private label bath tissue, paper towels, facial tissue and napkins to various retailers. At the new facility, which will be operated by newly formed subsidiary Select Tissue of North Carolina, the jobs being created will come with an average salary of $40,152 — above the average annual wage for the county of $35,727.

“We are excited about the opportunity in Vance County and Henderson in specific. We found the perfect storm of creative economic incentives, a ready potential workforce, and an excellent building in our target geographic region,” said Nick Galante, CEO of Select Products. “Select had investigated over 100 sites in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia in addition to North Carolina and the positive combination of factors resulted in the Henderson project.”

The company will be receiving a performance-based $350,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund to facilitate the expansion that will be paid out once job creation and capital investment targets are met.

“We welcome Select to North Carolina’s manufacturing community,” said state Rep. Terry Garrison. “Good jobs that pay good wages are always valued and everyone in our region looks forward to helping this company succeed.”
