Save Mart's support of the local communities it serves hit new heights recently as residents of Sacramento donated more than 18,000 turkeys at the 17th annual KCRA Turkey Drive.

A sponsor since 2007, Save Mart’s longstanding partnership benefits Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. This year’s event eclipsed the previous year’s record by 800 turkeys.

“At Save Mart, we take great care and pride in caring for the communities we serve,” said John Norman, vice president of store operations at Save Mart. “We are proud to sponsor KCRA’s annual Turkey Drive to help support our Sacramento neighbors who are facing food insecurity and to provide them with groceries as they celebrate the holidays. We’re incredibly proud of our longstanding support of this critical event.”

Donors braved the cold temperatures to drop off frozen turkeys and non-perishable side dishes at Cal Expo from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, more than 35 Save Mart associates were on hand to help unload the items.  Several Save Mart volunteers came from as far away as Fresno, Clovis, and Bakersfield to participate.
