Save A Lot Names Independent Director to Board

Retail veteran Cathy Skula has joined Save A Lot's Board of Directors effective immediately.

Discount grocery chain Save A Lot has announced that Cathy Skula has joined the company’s board of directors as an independent director effective immediately.

Skula currently serves as operating partner of Riverside, a global investment firm, and has over 30 years of experience in retail. She spent the majority of her career in various roles with Rent-A-Center, including serving as president and CEO of Rent-A-Center Franchising International, the company’s franchise subsidiary. 

Skula’s other executive roles with Rent-A-Center include tenure as executive vice president and chief development officer as well as division vice president of Operations.

“Cathy is an outstanding leader with a demonstrated record of driving growth,” said Leon Bergmann, CEO at Save A Lot. “Her deep expertise in retail for the value-seeking customer, along with her understanding of the complex dynamics of independent operators, aligns very well with our brand. I have no doubt she will be invaluable to our team as we progress through the next phase of our transformation.”

St. Louis, Miss.-based Save A Lot operates more than 850 stores in 32 states, where its private label products can be found.
