In early 2024, Sam's Club will open distribution centers near St. Louis and Minneapolis.
Sam’s Club is enhancing its supply chain network in the midwest with the addition of two distribution centers near St. Louis and Minneapolis. Both locations are slated to open in early 2024.
The new facilities are part of a multi-year growth plan to transform the supply chain at Sam’s Club and evolve network and end-to-end capabilities. In addition to bringing new jobs to the areas, the new distribution centers will also give Sam’s Club members a better shopping experience with noticeable increases in speed and availability of products both in club and online, company officials said.
"We’re excited to extend our supply chain network and capabilities for our clubs and members in the region,” said Joseph Godsey, senior vice president of Supply Chain at Sam’s Club. “We’re designing our supply chain network to strengthen our omni-channel experience and increase efficiencies and delivery speed to wherever our members decide to shop with us and receive their products."
The first facility will open in the greater St. Louis area (Edwardsville, Ill.), in January. The 370,000 square-foot facility will be located at 5710 Inner Park Dr., and serve as a distribution center and fulfillment center, creating more than 100 jobs across the region.
The Shakopee, Minn., facility will be located at 7400 Hentges Way and will serve as a multipurpose distribution center. The 365,000 square-foot facility is scheduled to open in March 2024, and will employ more than 80 associates. Hiring is already underway. Walmart Inc. employs more than 24,000 associates across Minnesota.
The announcement of these two new locations comes as Sam’s Club has also recently shared plans to open a new distribution center in Oklahoma City, Okla. and a new fulfillment center outside of Atlanta in Lithia Springs, Ga.
