Rockline Industries Makes Progress on Sustainability Initiatives

Rockline Industries, a Sheboygan, Wis.-based manufacturer of private label consumer wet wipes and coffee filters, recently released its 2013 Environmental Sustainability Report, the fifth since the company created its sustainability program in 2009. The report highlights the accomplishments the company has made throughout the year in reducing energy use and waste, the company said.

“The purpose of this report is to give a transparent account of our progress against sustainability goals,” said Randy Rudolph, president of Rockline Industries. “We want to fulfill our mission of delivering long-term value to our stakeholders, while respecting the environment we all share. To do this, we must always show continuous improvement.”

Rockline’s most notable strides in fiscal 2013 were in the areas of greenhouse gas emissions, wastewater and solid waste reduction, the company said. According the report, since 2009, Rockline’s greenhouse gas emissions per unit of production fell 18 percent; wastewater was reduced by 2 percent per unit of production; and total solid waste fell 26 percent per unit of production.

Rockline recognizes the importance of driving sustainability throughout its supply chain, not just in its own operations, Nina Schaub, global environmental sustainability coordinator for Rockline Industries, told Private LabelStore Brands. Sustainability benefits the company’s retailer customers as well, because they can build store brand programs and products that are more sustainable throughout their supply chain and create more relevant product offerings that are consumer-driven, she added.
