Albertsons-owned United Supermarkets spotlighted its assortment of private label products.

Retailers across the U.S. celebrated the inaugural national Store Brands Month to highlight their respective assortment of store brands and educate consumers on the value and quality their own brand products provide.

A brainchild of the Private Label Manufacturers Association, the initiative was designed to bring together retailers, manufacturers, and service providers to declare January as Store Brands Month.

“All of this happened with a relatively short run up to the event,” said Peggy Davies, president of PLMA. “We’re pleased with the level of nationwide participation and look forward to building on this momentum in 2026.”

Albertsons was among the retailers that used Store Brands Month to spotlight its assortment and offer shoppers additional savings. During the month, the grocer offered its customers 25% off select products from its Own Brands assortment through its for U loyalty program. The first-ever promotion showcased the variety and quality of its 67 private label product categories, company officials said.

Additionally, numerous retailers and product suppliers took to social media and used the “storebrandsmonth” hashtag to raise awareness of their respective private label assortments.

On LinkedIn, Aldi used its Store Brands Month post to promote its recently released Price Leadership Report that found shoppers can save up to 36% on average by switching to Aldi-exclusive products.

“While low prices get some customers to try private label for the first time, it’s award-winning quality that drives loyalty and keeps them coming back,” said Dave Rinaldo, chief operations officer at Aldi US.

Associated Wholesale Grocers celebrated the month on social media by showcasing its AWG Brands Marketing and Brand Development team.

“This group is at the forefront of driving the success of AWG Brands through innovative label design, strategic branding, impactful in-store and digital marketing, and seamless new item creation and launches,” the company wrote on LinkedIn. “They’re also key in public relations and advocacy efforts that elevate AWG Brands.”

Store Brands Month is set to be an annual event held in January with the goal of increasing shoppers' trial and purchase of private label items.
