Publix recalls German chocolate cakes

"Out of an abundance of caution," Publix Super Markets Inc., Lakeland, Fla., said is issued a voluntary recall for Publix German Chocolate Layer Cake. The cakes contain pecans that are not declared on the package label.

The cakes were distributed companywide to Publix Bakery locations and are retailed in the refrigerated or freezer cases.

"As part of our commitment to food safety, affected product has been removed from all stores,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. "To date, there have been no reported cases of illness. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund."
