Florida-based grocery chain Publix is continuing its expansion into Kentucky.

The retailer has announced plans for a fourth location in the Bluegrass State, the third location planned for Louisville. In addition to its private brands, the Publix located at the northwest corner of Flat Rock Road and Shelbyville Road will include a Publix Pharmacy and a Publix Liquors location.

“Publix provides premier customer service, along with a deep commitment to the communities in which we serve,” said Maria Brous, director of Communication at Publix. “We are excited for Kentuckians to begin experiencing the Publix difference as we continue to expand our footprint in the Bluegrass State.”

The 48,387-square-foot store is anticipated to open in the second quarter of 2024. Publix announced its expansion in Kentucky this summer, marking the retailer’s eighth state of operation.

Publix operates more than 1,310 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
