Pottery Barn CEO Benson Retiring

After 35 years in retail, Marta Benson will step down in April.

Pottery Barn's CEO Marta Benson is retiring.

Pottery Barn Brands Chief Executive Officer Marta Benson is retiring, effective April 26. 

Benson’s responsibilities will transition to the two existing Pottery Barn presidents, Monica Bhargava, president of Pottery Barn and Jennifer Kellor, president of Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen. 

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire Williams-Sonoma, Inc. team, I want to thank Marta for her significant accomplishments and commitment to driving growth during her 13-year tenure,” said Laura Alber, president and chief executive officer of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. “Marta’s contributions to our company have led to the launch of Mark & Graham, the acquisition of Rejuvenation and the transformation of Pottery Barn. We are grateful for her leadership and the legacy she leaves behind having been a champion for advancing our company’s commitment to sustainability.”

Benson, who will conclude a 35-year career in specialty multi-channel retail, said it was “an absolute privilege” to contribute to Williams-Sonoma, Inc. 

“I want to thank Laura for the trust and opportunities she has given me over the years and am grateful for all the talented people with whom I have had the privilege to collaborate,” she said. “The Pottery Barn bench is talented, tenured, and strong, and I have so much confidence in the leadership that will continue to innovate and drive results going forward.”
