Plaid Pantry Adds Bicycle Aid Stations

PORTLAND, Ore. – Plaid Pantries Inc. will make itself more welcoming to customers traveling on two wheels by adding bicycle aid stations, reported BikePortland.org. These stations will contain a flat tire repair kit, floor pump and basic bike tools, and be available at all 104 Oregon Plaid Pantry locations.

"As the weather is improving, I am seeing more bikes on the road," Administrative Manager Laura Sadowski told the news outlet. "Not everyone is prepared for a flat or adequate nutrition and fluids, so we want to be there on (mostly) every corner to 'aid' them!"

The stores will also display a bright yellow "Aid Station" graphic at their main entrances.

The idea came from Plaid Pantry Executive Vice President Jonathan Polonksy, who is reportedly an avid bicyclist.

The convenience store chain also began adding bike racks in 2012 and continues to do so, Sadowski said.
