Pete Van Helden appointed CEO of Stater Bros. Markets

San Bernardino, Calif.-based Stater Bros. Markets said that Pete Van Helden was appointed president and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets, effective Jan. 4. Van Helden will report to Jack Brown, executive chairman of the board.

Van Helden is a 38-year veteran of the supermarket industry and has served Stater Bros. as president and chief operating officer since 2013. Prior to joining Stater Bros., Van Helden was executive vice president, retail operations for Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu Inc., the retailer said.
