Pet Supplies Plus Continues Store Growth

Independent pet retailer Pet Supplies Plus and its owned chain Wag N’ Wash, a self-wash, grooming and natural food pet franchise, are reporting strong numbers for planned new stores.

The company is celebrating double-digit year-to-date growth with 41 signed agreements for 71 total stores across both brands. Year-to-date, Pet Supplies Plus has secured 35 signed agreements to open 61 stores. After originally signing on for a five-unit agreement, ACMH Ventures LLC has since purchased 23 additional stores across nine states which makes their entity the second largest in the Pet Supplies Plus franchise system.

Since acquiring Wag N' Wash in February 2022, the brand has doubled in store count with 25 locations currently open and operating and 40 more in various stages of development.

"Our corporate team provides the blueprint each franchisee needs to find success in their communities, just as AVMH has. The growth footprints of both retail brands shows that the market for pet products is continuing to grow, as pet ownership increased at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. A recent report from Vericast found that consumers plan to increase spending on their pet compared to last year.

"We've hit an impressive development stride this year, having already opened 40 Pet Supplies and Wag N' Wash stores," said Russo. "Our goal is to finish the year with a total of 60 new Pet Supplies Plus stores and 10 Wag N' Wash locations. Headquartered in Livonia, Mich., Pet Supplies Plus operates more than 700 locations across 42 states, while Wag N’ Wash currently operates 25 locations nationwide.
