Dublin, Ireland-headquartered Perrigo Nutritionals, which has its North American base in Allegan, Mich., is launching a campaign to raise public awareness of the quality and safety of store brand infant formula.
“Every parent has a unique ‘formula’ for how to juggle it all: family, work and ‘me’ time,” stated the company in a press release. To celebrate the “everyday parenting balancing act,” Perrigo has kicked off its #ShareYourFormula Sweepstakes, which runs through April 24.
To enter the sweepstakes, individuals can visit http://www.ShareYourFormula.com and follow the instructions to submit their unique parenting formula by using the site’s emoji keyboard. Six winners will each receive $1,000 and a year’s supply of store brand infant formula, the company stated. One winner will be announced each week of the promotion.
Many parents are unaware that all infant formulas marketed in the United States, both nationally advertised formula brands and store brand formulas, must meet the same federal nutrient requirements, Perrigo said in the release.
The FDA “monitors all infant formula products and requires infant formula manufacturers to test product composition during production and shelf-life; to keep records on product, testing and distribution of each batch of infant formula; and to use good manufacturing practices and quality control procedures,” the company stated.
“When it comes to selecting an infant formula, buying an expensive nationally advertised brand does not make sense when there are budget-friendly options that meet the same federal quality and nutrient requirements,” said Sandra Gordon, author of Consumer Reports Best Baby Products, in the Perrigo press release.
“By switching to store brand formula, which costs up to half the price of advertised brands, parents can save up to $600 per year without compromising quality,” according to the manufacturer.
