Oberlin IGA champions community health with store tours
Although many grocery retailers are responding to consumer demand for more healthful product offerings, the Oberlin (Ohio) IGA goes beyond the norm in promoting community health and wellness. The retailer has teamed up with the Loraine County Health District to offer monthly 20-minute tours led by a dietitian, who will explain where to find better-for-you items in the store, reported The Chronicle, a Loraine County newspaper, in an article posted Jan. 16.
The Oberlin IGA is also debuting a health-and-wellness checkout line, which will have an impulse-item display of fruit, nuts and bottled water instead of the usual candy and gum.
