‘No truth’ to Kroger, Target merger, CNBC reports

There is "no truth" to a report that Target and Kroger are in merger talks, according to a CNBC report.

The website Fast Company reported last Friday that Target and Kroger are discussing a possible merger. “The talks come as the grocery industry grapples with Amazon’s increasing hold on the market,” according to Fast Company’s report.

According to financial news and services website The Street, “it's turned out that the conversations between Kroger and Target haven't been for merger purposes, but rather for a partnership between Kroger and Target-owned Shipt, an online grocery platform Target bought in December for $550 million.”
