A new ShopRite store is now open in Old Bridge, N.J.
A Wakefern co-operative member has opened up a new ShopRite full service supermarket in Old Bridge, N.J., bringing along branded operations and products from two other banners it operates, Fairway and Gourmet Garage.
The coop member behind the store and ShopRite operator, Village Super Market, acquired assets from Fairway after that company’s second stint in bankruptcy in 2020. Shortly before, Village had acquired Gourmet Garage, a specialty market company that operates in Manhattan.
The Old Bridge ShopRite will host a Fairway Artisanal Cheese Department overseen by a master cheesemonger to hand-select the product as well as a Fairway signature Olive Bar and chef prepared meals, sides and soups from Gourmet Garage. It also will offer Ruby Foo’s Asian Fusion meals and sushi, a product line associated with the new shuttered New York restaurant Ruby Foos, as well as a Shuk Kosher Kitchen with certified kosher grab and go meals and Kosher for Passover section.
In addition to popular Fairway and Gourmet Garage branded food, the Old Bridge store has access to the broad range of private label products produced by Wakefern.
According to Village, the store followed up on local feedback to establish a café with the name Knight’s Loft, inspired by Old Bridge High School athletic teams.
“It was important to us that the community be part of the planning, and Old Bridge residents told us they wanted premium quality and inspiration,” said Perry Blatt, director of E-commerce and Business Development for Village Super Market, the family-run business that owns and operates the new store. “We offer all the value and variety of ShopRite with lots of special surprises we believe customers will love.”
