New pet food processing safety guide released
Ogden, Utah-based American Nutrition, a private brand pet food manufacturer, has released its latest guide “Pet Food Safety: Going Above & Beyond Common Safety Practices.”
The guide, available for download, provides insights into what defines a high-quality pet food safety program, including regulations around traceability, recall preparedness and environmental monitoring, according to the company.
“Ensuring food safety is a non-negotiable,” said Steve Mills, senior vice president of customer brands and co-manufacturing for American Nutrition, in a statement. “The safety of our pets’ food is of utmost importance, and pet parents are paying closer attention to what is going into the production of that food — and insisting on the highest standards — than ever before.
“We are happy to share our knowledge with our peers in the industry with this guide and in continuing the conversation about how we can all ensure a quality, safe product that meets the needs of both consumers and regulators simultaneously.”
