Earlier this month Trader Joe’s took the top spot of 56 grocers ranked in the Dunnhumby 2019 Retailer Preference Index.
Private brand retailers and suppliers looking for product development inspiration might want to peruse the winners of Trader Joe’s 10th Annual Customer Choice Awards.
Trader Joe’s shoppers were asked to vote on the company’s most popular products of 2018, and all of the winners were private brands.
Now, some of the winners were no surprise.
Mandarin orange chicken took the top spot once again as customers' favorite overall item. And Trader Joe’s popular sparkling mineral waters took a top spot in the beverage category again. But some of the other winners included new products, such as cauliflower gnocchi, a healthier alternative to the Italian dish, which debuted on Trader Joe's shelves in 2018. It took less than a year for that product to make the list of customers’ most popular items.
Other notable winners included Trader Joe's teeny tiny avocados in the produce category, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, and peanut butter-filled pretzels.
