Millennials are changing their grocery shopping habits by shifting from boxed and convenient processed products to “healthier” alternatives for their families.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “the grocery industry has evolved,” Kevin Metcalfe told the Journal Sentinel. Metcalfe is co-owner of Metcalfe's Market in Wauwatosa, Wis., and a fourth-generation grocer. “People are now concerned about what is in their food and where it is produced.”

This shifting dynamic means that grocers need to focus on this health conscious generation’s non-GMO demands, as other grocers make plans to expand their produce sections and minimize their frozen processed foods aisle, the Journal Sentinel reported.
