Lidl is planning to offer additional upgrades to its new system by allowing for Direct Debit payments.
Lidl has developed its own mobile payment system to rival Apple and Google.
According to Forbes, the retailer is testing a payment system in Spain via its existing mobile app Lidl Plus, which is already available in a number of countries including Germany, Poland and Austria.
Moreover, in Germany, Lidl is planning to offer additional upgrades to its new system by allowing for Direct Debit payments, similar to the technology already offered by Apple and Google, according to Forbes. This will make it possible for the company to lower its costs, as it would no longer have to pay transaction fees to the credit card providers.
