Lidl is building a new store in Bethesda, Md.
Residents of Bethesda, Md., will soon be able to shop at a new Lidl location as the grocer has started construction on a new store in the community located just north of the nation’s capital.
According to a report by Patch, the 41,300 square foot store at 7625 Old Germantown Road will be located on the ground floor of the Bethesda Place apartments. The new store will fill the spot that was previously occupied by a Safeway store that closed in March 2018.
The German grocer had a strong presence in Maryland as it currently operates 19 locations throughout the state. The report also indicated Lidl has plans to open stores in the Maryland communities of Germantown and Rockville. There are no specific dates on the openings for any of the new stores.
