Lidl is expanding its footprint in the New York Metropolitan area with the forthcoming new store opening in Brooklyn.

The grocer’s newest location will call 459 Gateway Drive home with the grand opening scheduled for January 29. The store, Lidl’s first in the borough, will be open daily from 8 a.m to 10 p.m.

The company and its broad selection of private label products is no stranger to New York shoppers as it currently operates dozens of stores in New York’s other four boroughs and across Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. Store Brands’ sister publication, Progressive Grocer, reported Lidl also has plans for a third location in Manhattan at 408 Grand Street, which is scheduled to open this summer.

In a December interview with Store Brands, Miguel Paradela, Lidl’s executive vice president of Purchasing and Chief Commercial Officer, said the grocer in 2025 would focus its store growth plans on key markets including New York, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.

“We are focusing on our core markets and will keep growing in those areas,” he said.

As it expands in key markets in the eastern U.S., Lidl also remains committed to providing its shoppers a product assortment of high value, quality, and unique items.

“We continue to be strongly focused on private label products,” Paradela said. “This has been and continues to be our business model and is why we have been successful as we operate in more than 30 countries worldwide.”
