Lidl accelerates expansion plan

Lidl is expanding its store footprint by 25.

Arlington, Va.,-based Lidl U.S. is planning on adding 25 stores across the eastern U.S. coast by spring 2020.

The company announced its expansion plans for Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. The company also announced that it will close two stores, in Rockingham and Kinston, N.C., this summer.

Additionally, Lidl also plans to hold a hiring event to fill around 100 new positions at its regional headquarters and distribution center in Alamance County, North Carolina.
