Kroger, Visa settle 2016 lawsuit
Cincinnati-based The Kroger Co. has officially settled its lawsuit against popular credit card company Visa Inc., according to Visa’s latest quarterly report.
The company revealed in its most recent quarterly report that the lawsuit was dismissed on July 24 after both parties reached an agreement. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2016 when Kroger alleged that Visa interfered with its transaction-routing plans for EMV debit cards, with fines and loss of the ability to accept Visa debit cards within its stores.
The details of the settlement remain exclusively confidential to both companies.
