Kroger Cuts Jobs At Cincinnati Headquarters
Kroger Co. has cut hundreds of jobs at three sites in Cincinnati as the nation’s largest traditional supermarket operator takes steps to improve efficiency.
News of the job reductions was reported by the Cincinnati Business Courier.
According to the report, the job cuts were implemented the first week of February and impacted employees at Kroger’s downtown Cincinnati headquarters, its 84.51 data unit, and its Kroger Technology and Digital Team.
A Kroger spokesperson told the Courier the grocer is focusing on key priority areas that support its go-to-market strategy. As a result, the company announced “team restructures and a small number of eliminated roles” to improve efficiency.
The report indicated that Kroger did not file notices under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. A warning is required if large companies such as Kroger cut 500 or more positions at a single site or cut 50 jobs if the positions make up at least one-third of workers at a given site or if the layoff involves the closure of a facility.
