Kroger closing bakery

According to a Columbus Business First article, the company is decommissioning the factory due to its outdated equipment that is no longer sustainable.

Cincinnati-based The Kroger Co. is closing its 300,000 square-foot Columbus bakery, eliminating 411 jobs.

According to a Columbus Business First article, the company is decommissioning the factory due to its outdated equipment that is no longer sustainable. The company says the decommissioning process will take between 60 and 90 days.

Affected employees will receive normal pay for 60 days. Placement services will be offered, including opportunities in other Kroger facilities that manufacture private brands and in Kroger stores.
