Institute of Food Technologists to host IFT15 in Chicago

The Chicago-based Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) said its Annual Meeting and Food Expo —IFT15: Where Science Feeds Innovation — will be held at McCormick Place South in Chicago July 11-14. IFT15 will feature new food products, widespread food trends and important developments in the science of food.

IFT said it will have a special interactive exhibit on the expo floor called the Transformation Lab. Attendees will find out what kind of chewer they are, learn about the microbiome and speak with specialists about the latest thinking on the food digestion and health connection.

Special presentations will focus on topics such as emerging trends and technologies, shifts in consumer behavior, debates regarding the global food system, the history behind the making of the documentary film “Food Evolution,” and the changing roles of women in the food industry, IFT stated.

Educational sessions will discuss subjects such as sustainable ingredients and alternative proteins, 3D printing and food quality, insect-based foods, Chinese food regulations and laws, bioactive compounds and functional foods in chronic disease and healthy aging, fermented functional foods and global disasters and food, IFT said.
