Hy-Vee peanut spread product recalled

9/20/2016

American Blanching Corp. and Golden Boy Foods, part of the Attune Food Group business of St. Louis-based Post Holdings Inc., issued a market withdrawal for Hy-Vee Reduced-Fat Peanut Spread. The spread could be impacted by trace amounts of unauthorized chemicals used in one ingredient, according to Hy-Vee Inc., West Des Moines, Iowa.

The recall is not a food safety issue, and no health issues have been associated with the product at this time. Out of an abundance of caution, Hy-Vee said it is recalling the product from all of its stores.

The recall is limited to all 16-ounce jars of Hy-Vee Reduced-Fat Peanut Spread with UPC number 0075450134630. The product was sold at Hy-Vee stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. No other Hy-Vee food items are impacted by this recall, the retailer noted.
