Hy-Vee Opens 2 New Wisconsin Stores

The retailer opened a new state-of-the-art store in Janesville, Wisc. and a smaller, remodeled store in Oregon, Wisc. on the same day.

Iowa-based grocer Hy-Vee has announced the opening of two new stores in Wisconsin, bringing its total to eight stores in the state. 

The retailer has opened its “state-of-the-art” store in Janesville, featuring an open food hall, full-service bar, outdoor patio and in-store restaurants including HyChi and Hibachi, Nori Sushi, Market Grille, Long Island Deli and more. 

The 97,000-square-foot location offers full-service bakery and deli sections, along with installations such as Joe Fresh clothing, a Pair Eyewear kiosk, DSW footwear, a beauty department and an expanded Candy Shoppe department. The location also has a large Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits department featuring a walk-in beer cooler and a climate-controlled wine room.

The new store in Janesville, located north of Rockford, Ill., also features stand-out technology, such as all-digital shelf labels, digital kiosks for customers to order cakes and prepared foods, as well as access offerings via Hy-Vee Financial Services. Other features include new mobile payment technology with Hy-Vee Scan & Go, as well as self-checkout options.

Hy-Vee’s new Janesville store was a $27 million for the grocer, and creates more than 631 local jobs, including 146 full-time positions.

Hy-Vee also opened a new store in Oregon, Wisc., located just south of Madison. The new location is a remodeled Bill’s Food Center, and offers a large Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits department, a specialty cheese department and prepackaged charcuterie, an expanded health and beauty department and a large greeting card section. Additional in-store offerings include Mealtime To Go offerings, natural, organic and gluten-free items, and Hy-Vee Aisles Online grocery services.

Hy-Vee is an employee-owned corporation that operates more than 285 retail stores across eight Midwestern states.
