Here’s how much Americans spend on groceries every month

A recent study reveals how American consumers are spending their money on groceries and which 22 cities are the most costly for consumer packaged goods.

According to Business Insider, which collaborated with the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Consumer Expenditure Surveys, the total spent on groceries for the average household ranges from $286 a month in Dallas to nearly $500 a month in Seattle.

The data covers the most recent period of 2016-2017 and reveals average annual expenditures for consumer units in 22 major cities in the Northeast, South, West, and Midwest.
