Texas-based grocer H-E-B is expanding its distribution facility in Temple, Tex. to include a new automated frozen distribution line.

Pending a final agreement, the expansion will add over 100 jobs and expand the facility by 325,000 square-feet. The project is expected to be completed in 2024. The Temple distribution center supports over 100 H-E-B stores, providing them with H-E-B’s private brand products.

“As H-E-B grows into new markets across Texas, expansion of our Temple facilities supports our commitment to be the best retailer in Texas," said Chad Madison, group vice president of H-E-B warehousing.

H-E-B topped a recent dunnhumby e-commerce report that found the chain’s e-commerce business to be the most desirable according to consumers, topping Amazon and Amazon Fresh.

"It is our privilege to continue to work with H-E-B as they grow their presence in Temple, Texas" said Adrian Cannady, President and CEO of Temple Economic Development Corporation. "H-E-B has seen many cycles of growth and expansion throughout their time in Temple and we are proud of the opportunities they continue to bring to our region. This expansion project, paired with Temple's strategic location and immediate access to I-35, will work to strengthen H-E-B's operations in Texas."

Based in San Antonio, H-E-B operates over 420 stores in Texas and Mexico and employs roughly 145,000 people.
