Grocery prices to rise again?

1/4/2019
The Department of Agriculture predicts another price surge for groceries in 2019

According to a new report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the amount of money consumers spend at the grocery store could go up in 2019.

The USDA says grocery prices could rise 1 to 2 percent in 2019, which is below the 20-year average of 2.1 percent of year-over-year grocery inflation, according to WGEM News.

According to WGEM News, parents say paying more in the checkout line can be difficult because it makes for a tighter budget.

“I think prices already are high enough and if they continue to rise it just makes more of a struggle for everyone. With the new year coming in, we don’t really want to keep seeing all the price inflation because it’s hard enough to get by as it is,” said Casey Kuczwara.

The USDA report also revealed that pork, eggs, fats and oils, and non-alcoholic beverages could see a price decline this year.
