Grocers recalling hundreds of vegetable products

11/5/2019

More than 100 vegetable products from 15 different brand names, including items from Safeway’s O Organics, Walmart’s Marketside, Trader Joe’s and other private labels, have been recalled because of potential contamination from the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Salinas, Calif.-based Mann Packing Co. announced the recall last week in response to an FDA inspection. The recalled products have a “Best If Enjoyed By” date of Oct. 11 to Nov. 16. A full list of recalled items can be found here.

Listeria primarily affects pregnant women, newborns, older adults and people with weakened immune systems after they eat the contaminated food. It is the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. from foodborne illness, according to the FDA.

There have been no reported illnesses.
