Fresh & Easy to begin shutdown

According to an article by the Los Angeles Times, Fresh & Easy spokesman Brendan Wonnacott said the El Segundo, Calif.-based retail chain is starting “the process for an organized wind-down.” Fresh & Easy will begin to liquidate and close stores during the next few weeks. State-mandated WARN Act layoff notices already were sent out to about 3,000 employees.
