FMI Conference To Host Discussion On AI

Google Cloud's Jose Luis-Gomes will offer insight on artificial intelligence and discuss future applications for the food industry at the organization's Mid-Winter Conference in January.

With artificial intelligence on the minds of many, attendees at FMI’s 2024 Midwinter Executive Conference will have an opportunity to gain insight on AI from an expert at Google.

Jose Luis-Gomes, managing director Retail & CPG with Google Cloud will present a keynote address on artificial intelligence (AI) and future applications for the food industry on Friday, January 19, during FMI’s conference to be held at the JW Marriott Marco Island in Florida. 

For the past three years, Luis-Gomes has focused on helping retail and CPG companies digitally transform with Google Cloud’s latest technology innovations. During that time, he has supported technology acceleration initiatives for retailers and CPGs such as Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, P&G, Mondelez and Colgate. 

Prior to Google Cloud, Luis-Gomes spent more than a decade at dunnhumby partnering with retailers and brands globally to leverage data and analytics to put their customers first. Throughout his career, Luis-Gomes has emphasized collaboration between retailers and brands while working to leverage data and AI. 

During the keynote session titled Putting Generative AI to Work for Food Retail, Luis-Gomes will explore the types of AI, what is already in use, future applications, and how generative AI could transform organizational structure, workforce management, productivity and costs, and consumer expectations.

“Nearly one in four food retailers and two out of three suppliers are currently using AI for their business solutions,” said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO of FMI. “These numbers will continue to grow in the coming year, necessitating food industry executives know the ins and outs of current and future AI opportunities so that they make informed business decisions.”
