Dollar Tree Names New Executives To Family Dollar Leadership Team

Dollar Tree has made two additions to its Family Dollar executive leadership team in the areas of supply chain and merchandising.

Dollar Tree has made two additions to its Family Dollar executive leadership team in the areas of supply chain and merchandising.

John Flanigan has been named chief supply chain officer and Larry Gatta is the new chief merchandising officer. 

Flanigan most recently served as executive VP, Global Supply Chain for Dollar General through April 2016. He joined Dollar General as senior VP, Global Supply Chain in May 2008 and was promoted to executive VP in March 2010. With more than 30 years of management experience in retail logistics, Flanigan held leadership positions at Longs Drug stores, Safeway, Vons, Specialized Distribution Management Inc. and Crum & Crum Logistics.

Gatta brings more than 35 years of retail industry and marketing experience. Most recently, as the senior VP and General Merchandise Manager for Consumables at Dollar General, He had responsibility for food, perishables, candy, snacks, beverage, paper, cleaning, pet, and tobacco categories. Gatta joined Dollar General in 2009 as VP and divisional merchandise manager, responsible for food, pet, beverages, candy, snacks, perishables and the Market Store Format. In 2011, he was promoted to senior VP and general merchandise manager for Discretionary, spending two years being responsible for soft lines, seasonal, hardware, housewares, stationery, electronics, gift cards, and automotive. 

Prior to joining Dollar General, he was senior VP and chief marketing officer at Longs Drug Stores until being acquired by CVS, and previously held leadership roles at Rite Aid Corporation and Phar-Mor Corporation.
