3/21/2019
The cough syrup production has been stopped while the Food and Drug Administration and the company investigate the source of the bacteria.

Dollar General's own brand baby cough syrup is being pulled from shelves for containing harmful bacteria.

Kingston Pharma, LLC of Massena, N.Y., is recalling the 2-fluid ounce bottles of DG/Health NATURALS baby Cough Syrup + Mucus because it could possibly be contaminated with Bacillus cereus/Bacillus circulans, which can cause vomiting or diarrhea when present in food products.

"Most often, illnesses are mild and self-limiting, although more serious and even lethal cases have occurred. Individuals at risk for more severe forms of illness include infants, young children, and others with weakened immune systems," the recall notice said.
