Delhaize discussing possible merger with Ahold

Delhaize Group, Brussels, confirmed that it entered into preliminary discussions with Zaandam, the Netherlands-based Royal Ahold N.V. to explore the opportunity of combining the two companies. The discussions might or might not result in a transaction. The company will communicate material updates, if any, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
