CSM Bakery Solutions recalls store brand bakery goods

5/3/2016

CSM Bakery Solutions, Atlanta, said it is voluntarily recalling certain store brand bakery goods. The bakery goods, which could contain undeclared peanuts, include:

  • Safeway 8-inch Single Layer Red Velvet Cake
  • Acme 12-inch Decorated Chocolate Chip Cookie
  • Jewel 12-inch Decorated Chocolate Chip Cookie

The cake was sold in Safeway stores in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico (Farmington and Aztec), South Dakota, and Nebraska, CSM said. The cookie was sold in Acme stores in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New York, as well as in Jewel stores in Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. No illnesses were reported as of May 2, the recall date.

CSM said it initiated the recall after the company discovered during post-production testing that it had received from a supplier flour that contained undeclared peanut as a result of incidental contact. The flour was used in products distributed by CSM in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanut.
