Costco Starts 2025 With A Robust January

The warehouse club reports strong comparable store sales gains across all divisions.

Costco reported sales gains of 9.2% in January.

Costco kicked off the new year with a strong January as the nation’s largest wholesale club reported growth of more than 9% for the four week period ended February 2.

Total sales in the first month of 2025 were $17.87 billion, an increase of 9.2% over the comparable period the previous year. Net sales for the first 22 weeks of the company’s fiscal year were $113.55 billion, up 8.2% from the same period the previous fiscal year.

Company-wide comparable store sales in January, excluding the impacts of changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange, were up 9.8%. By division, comp store sales without gasoline and foreign exchange were up 9.2% in the United States, 12.3% in Canada, and 10% Other International. E-commerce comps were up 15.2%.

Costco currently operates 897 warehouses, including 617 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 109 in Canada, 41 in Mexico, 36 in Japan, 29 in the United Kingdom, 19 in Korea, 15 in Australia, 14 in Taiwan, seven in China, five in Spain, two in France, and one each in Iceland, New Zealand and Sweden. Costco also operates e-commerce sites in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Australia.
