September comparable store sales at Costco U.S. stores were up 9.3%, excluding gasoline and foreign exchange.
September was a busy month for Costco as the warehouse club reported company-wide sales growth of 9% to $22.59 billion. This covers a five-week period that ended October 6.
In the year’s ninth month, company-wide comparable store sales (excluding gasoline and foreign exchange) were up 8.9%. Same-store sales at Costco stores in the U.S. were up 9.3%, up 6.3% in Canada, and up 9.6% Internationally. E-commerce comparable store sales were up 22.9%.
Company officials said the month’s total and comparable sales for the retail month of September benefitted by approximately 2% in the U.S. and 1.5% worldwide as a result of the increased sales in the final week of the month due to abnormal consumer activity associated with Hurricane Helene and port strikes.
