Costco Recalls Store Brand Prosecco
Costco has recalled its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene, sold this spring and summer, over concerns that the unopened bottles could shatter.
The warehouse club posted a letter to members on its website, noting the item (No. 1879870) was purchased by shoppers between April 25 and August 26 at its stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The retailer said there is a risk of unopened bottles shattering, even when not being handled or in use. The products were supplied by Costco for sale under its Kirkland Signature private label by Ethica Wines, which is headquartered in Miami.
Costco is advising customers not to open the bottle or return it to stores. It recommends immediately disposing of the unopened bottle by wrapping it in paper towels, placing it in a plastic bag, and disposing of it in a trash receptacle.
Customers who purchased the prosecco will receive a full refund when returning the product to the nearest Costco location.
Shoppers with questions are advised to contact Ethica Wines at [email protected] or by calling (786) 810-7132.
The letter did not indicate if there were any injuries related to the recall.
