The company behind traffic app WAZE has developed a new app for grocery shopping called "Basket."

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the app creator says Basket consumers can save an average of 28 percent weekly. In a year, that can be $1,500 in grocery savings.

Users who download the app will be prompted to select the stores in which they shop and start creating their grocery list. Once it is completed, the user is supposed to hit the “compare” button on the app and price ranges for each product will appear.

The app is free, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. Users can also share their list with another person, who can grab the groceries on the way home. Once the user has a full basket - 20 to 30 items - that's when they will be able to see real savings, according to the developers.

The data comes in real-time from thousands of price checkers and from users who upload their receipts.
