Colleen Wegman is now the president and CEO of Wegmans Food Markets Inc., succeeding her father, Danny Wegman, who assumes the title of chairman. Wegmans is well-known for its store brands.
Colleen joined the Rochester, N.Y.-based grocer in 1991, and was named president in 2005 by her grandfather, Robert B. Wegman, who also passed his CEO title to Danny before assuming the role of chairman. Robert passed away the following year.
“I will continue in my role, but now as chairman of the company,” Danny said. “The time has come to create a structure for the future that will allow us to remain strong, vibrant and family-owned. I have no doubt that our company will be in good hands.”
Prior to becoming president, Colleen served in a number of roles, including store manager and director of ecommerce. She also was responsible for the development of Wegmans’ Nature’s Marketplace departments, and in 2002 was named senior vice president of merchandising. Her sister, Nicole Wegman, is vice president of perishable foods and wine.
Colleen is a 1994 graduate of the University of Colorado, and received an MBA from the Simon School at the University of Rochester.
