CHEP Canada wins Canada’s Safest Employer award

11/5/2015

CHEP, a global supplier of supply chain management solutions with Canadian offices in Toronto, said it was named one of Canada’s safest employers by the Canadian Occupational Safety magazine. CHEP Canada received the Silver Award for Canada’s Safest Employer in the Retail and Services Sector.

Launched in 2011, Canada's Safest Employers Awards recognize companies from all across Canada with outstanding accomplishments in promoting the health and safety of their workers. The award program boasts 10 industry-specific categories, ranging from hospitality to mining and natural resources. Companies are judged on a wide range of occupational health and safety elements, including employee training, OHS management systems, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and innovative health and safety initiatives, CHEP said.

“We are honored to receive recognition of our safety efforts from such a highly regarded organization as Canadian Occupational Safety magazine,” said Marianne Plumb, president, CHEP Canada. “CHEP has always put the safety of its employees, customers and partners first, so everything we do starts and stops with a focus on ensuring that everyone associated with the company goes home from work in the same condition as they arrived.”

Brambles, CHEP’s corporate parent, is committed to operating safe and efficient facilities. The company implemented the Zero Harm program across its business units as a way to apply best occupational health, safety and environment practices for employees, contractors, customers and local communities. The Zero Harm program measures safety performance through metrics such as work-related injuries and modified duties to ensure each unit understands the impact these incidents have on operations, CHEP said.
