Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Markets is bringing a new offering to its online shopping experience. The Chicago-based retailer has rolled out CookIt, a tool from locai Solutions that allows consumers to shop recipes, making it easier to plan meals and quickly shop for ingredients.

The Caputo’s e-grocery offering now features the CookIt-powered Recipe Rack, which also will be able to personalize recipe recommendations based on past purchases and dietary restrictions, among other factors. It is possible the feature also can serve as a conduit for the company to promote its own brand La Bella Romana products for inclusion in recipes.

"The CookIt technology behind The Recipe Rack will allow customers to easily shop meals instead of aisles, while adding everything to their cart with absolute simplicity," said Matthew Idstein, who oversees e-commerce for Caputos. "By showing different recipe ideas based on purchase history, dietary restrictions and food allergies, each customer gets a highly personalized shopping experience. It truly is a time saver.”

CookIt also has launched with Wakefern Food at the end of last year. Locai also is the technology provider for Caputo’s overarching e-commerce offering. The company’s eGrocery software includes a fulfillment management system, turnkey e-commerce sites and such user experience features as Endless Aisles.

"The convenience and value that CookIt brings to Caputo's is really a major step forward in personalization," said Scott DeGraeve, locai's COO. "Beyond increasing basket size, customer engagement and loyalty, The Recipe Rack allows Caputo's to serve their customers at home where their products are being consumed and enjoyed. It really speaks to the importance of family that lies at the heart of the Caputo's brand."
