Campbell Soup to produce plant-based broth
As the Campbell Soup Co. continues to try to keep up with consumer demands, the company’s CEO Mark Clouse told investors during its annual meeting that it will launch a “plant-based cooking platform” to match a broader range of consumers.
According to CNBC, the company is also looking to revive its namesake by appealing to the younger generations, or consumers who are starting to demand more sustainable and ethical products from consumer packaged goods companies. The problem with Campbell Soup’s iconic product, said Clouse, does not lie in the can that artist Andy Warhol once made famous.
“The issue is more about what’s inside the can than the can itself,” Clouse said, according to CNBC.
The company did not disclose when it will officially launch its plant-based product.
