Bloomberg.com: Walmart, Kroger among the bidders for Hostess assets
In a Dec. 13 article, Bloomberg.com reported that Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart and Kroger, Cincinnati, reportedly are “among the bidders for assets being sold by [Irving, Texas-based] Hostess Brands Inc.,” the bankrupt manufacturer of Twinkies and Wonder bread. The two retailers are among “about two dozen bidders,” Bloomberg.com said.
“A few of the bids are for all the assets; some are for just the cakes or breads businesses; and others are interested in individual Hostess plants,” [email protected] noted.
Keith Dailey, a spokesman for Kroger, declined to comment on the matter, as did a Walmart spokesperson.
